Labor day

First of all, I would like to wish you all a happy 1st of May and I would also like to revisit with you the origins in Europe of this day.

Perhaps not everyone knows the motto "Eight hours of work, eight of leisure, eight to sleep", and it was probably one of the first mottos coined in Austrialia by the trade union movement and then proposed at the Geneva congress in 1866.

Today, this workers' day makes me think a lot .... now, for the majority of people, it is seen as a day of vacation, an opportunity for picnics, especially for those who work all year round. But in reality this day was born as a moment of international struggle by all workers, without geographical borders, or social ones, to assert their rights, to achieve objectives, to improve their life condition.

May 1st he was born on July 20, 1889, in Paris. To propose this idea is the congress of the Second International, gathered in the French capital:
"A major demonstration will be organized on a set date, so that simultaneously in all countries and cities, on the same day, workers will ask public authorities to reduce the working day by law to eight hours and to put it into effect. the other resolutions of the Paris Congress ".
The choice of this specific date was a symbolic choice due to previous strikes which coincidentally occurred on May 1st of different years.

I would also like to focus on the "covid pandemic" period because today more than ever the human being's struggles to adapt, living moments of distress and fear for the future, to reinvent himself, to close the doors of his business forever. I believe that an international tragedy like this can only be taken as an opportunity to start building a different country, a different society, which respects the constitution and gives the possibility of work to all the people who want to dedicate themselves to something and self-sustaining.

I wish this "lock-down" could be taken as an opportunity for a profound internal restructuring of our country and that it could be based on facts and fewer words.

I recognize that this topic is not very alligned to trulli discussions, but I wanted to express a thought in this very particular and unforgettable labor day.
